Thank you so much for taking the time to read my publication. Liking a post on Substack is like casting a vote in favor of the author. If you like this, or anything else I’ve written, please take a moment to give it a ‘❤️’ so that it may become visible to those who are meant to find it.
These past couple of months, I’ve been sharing a lot of heavy material.
In February, I wrote about God’s Monsters. Recently, I shared journal entries On Grief and On Faith. So this week I’m taking the opportunity to put something together just for the fun of it. I am heavy hearted, but I also have a lot of whimsy (when you get to know me).
I also made this with the hope that it gives me an opportunity to get to know you better. In the comments, please let me know what your Life Path number is (and if you want to, one of your favorite songs).
To calculate the Life Path Number, add all the digits in your birthday and reduce it to one number.
(ex: 1/26/1994; 1+2+6+1+9+9+4)= 32; 3+2=5)
…
I can already hear the objections to this post.
“I don’t like this music.”
Listen, I can only know so many songs that simultaneously serve this weird purpose I’ve created.
“Numerology is stupid and this is pseudoscience brain rot.”
It’s for fun, try it some time. The water’s fine.

Life Path 1: The Leader
Ali In The Jungle, by The Hours
The 1 is associated with independence, authenticity, willpower and leadership. It’s a very open-ended path, as the soul choosing this track is simply meant to be successful in whatever it is that aligns with their values, skillset and motivations. When they care about something, they excel in it. Ali In The Jungle is a great depiction of the strength that the 1 can have in what they are working on, and who they are striving to become. This can come with setbacks, which leads me to the next song…
Black Swan by Thom Yorke
“You have tried your best to please everyone, but it just isn’t happening.”
Aside from the common struggle I see regarding the open-ended nature of their path, many of the 1 Life Path’s that I’ve met at one point or another have also had to contend with the consequence of not honoring their own authenticity and innovation in the process of their success. Perhaps while climbing the corporate ladder, the internal voices of their parents were given too much precedence. Maybe they became very good at their job but had to sacrifice parts of their identity to get there. Perhaps they suddenly find themselves in a toxic social circle. Sometimes the lesson of the 1 Life Path is to stop people pleasing, and embrace how their unique qualities contribute to their surroundings. There’s only 1 you 😉.
Life Path 2: The Mediator
Low by Coldplay
“All you ever wanted was love, but you never looked hard enough. It's never gonna give itself up. All you ever wanted to be, living in perfect symmetry. Nothing is as down or as up as us.”
Love is the principle of the 2 Life Path. That alone makes this song an obvious choice, but Chris Martin also goes into the duality of things and hints at a need for balance, which is even more relevant to this number. Of course, this song is merely focused on the complexities of relationships, but it can be interpreted from a broader perspective as well.
All Is Soft Inside by Aurora
A healthy 2 Life Path is centered in their feelings, are sensitive to their environment, and they let that guide their life. Empathy is their cornerstone, this sensitivity is their strength.
“All is stone, and all is soft inside. All that I know lies within emotion, words remain unspoken, lead me through the dark. All that I see came to me in colours,
lasted for a moment, lead me through the dark. All that I know…
I think this song exemplifies the profound nature of living through a heart-based existence. “Did you know that we're all turning softer inside? We can save what is pure if the hearts can collide. All that I've ever known is the universe is wild, is the universe is wild…”
Life Path 3 : The Communicator
Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
Listen, I know it’s kind of cheesy, but it hits the right spots - and the 3 Life Path should embrace the cheesy stuff from time to time. Entertain the possibility of magic and see everything through the eyes of a child, as the number 3 embodies joy, optimism and art.
The 3 needs to find their voice. They need to find the way they can express themselves and enjoy life. It doesn’t matter what form it takes, but often it does manifest through writing, teaching, drawing. painting, etc.
Which brings me to the next song…
Shake It Off by Florence & The Machine
You can’t release your inhibitions with the devil on your back, so shake him off 😉. The instances I’ve seen the 3 Life Path struggle the most were when they were caught up in the heavy darkness of this life. We all become toxic when we let things like criticism, injustice, fear, and just about everything there is to be had here, get to the better of us. The 3, whether they’re aware of it or not, has a gift to share with the people in their life, and they can’t access it when they’re turned away from the lighter side of life.
Life Path 4: The Teacher
21st Century Pop Song by Hymie’s Basement
This is the hardest Life Path number to find songs for. The 4 is associated with study, pragmatism and effort. There are a lot of songs about love, faith, creativity, etc., but not so much anything that would encapsulate the knowledgable nature of this person. They are very often brainy, intelligent people that make keen observations, so I ended up going with this song because it comes off that way with its list of facts and techno-vibe.
“Somebody told me when the bomb hits everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time
avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive.”
I’m pretty sure a 4 Life Path has told me this 😐.
Johnny Boy by Twenty One Pilots
This number is also associated with a sense of duty. When I first listened to this song, it reminded me of my dad. After some research, I discovered Tyler wrote it reflecting on a time when his dad was laid off. My dad was also laid off - when he had two kids in college and two kinds at home, and I suspect that this is exactly what it was like for him.
Anyway, here’s to all the 4 Life Paths out there (and the dads) putting in the work.
Life Path 5: The Adventurer
1. High By The Beach by Lana Del Rey
“I can’t survive if this is all that’s real.”
This is my Life Path number and that statement pretty much sums up my existence lol.
The 5 is the escape artist. Their lesson is freedom. Sometimes it’s healthy escapes, like books and nature, and other times it’s not, like drugs and thrills. A lot of Lana Del Rey’s music sounds like it could be a drug, in pursuit of experiences and navigating her own sense of freedom in relationships, art, etc. (she is also a 5 Life Path).
All I Want by The Offspring
“I'm sick of not living to stay alive.”
I say this to myself just about every day lol. This is a common challenge for the 5 Life Path. They do not want to be controlled, and often they see the full reality of the self-imposed prison our society has chosen. We really are in love with our own subjugation and we could have much more fulfilling lives if we truly valued life and were capable of imagining something different. The 5 can be empowering in this way, challenging people’s perceptions of what’s normal and ultimately being a force of change.
Life Path 6: The Nurturer
(not yet written)
1. Peace Of Mind by The Killers
The number 6 is about harmonization, responsibility, and healing. A healthy 6 life path knows how to infuse this into their families, their friends, their art, and their work. It’s also often the lesson that they have to learn in order to fulfill their life’s purpose, and it can be a hard one. Whether it’s through painting, writing, making/listening to music, gardening, or anything really, I hope that any 6 Life Path reading this manages to find their peace of mind.
2. The General by Dispatch
This, of course, can’t be done without surrendering. Peace can’t happen without first disarming yourself so that your opponent doesn’t have something to throw back at you. This person wakes up to what they need to change to attain that peace, and their actions in this decision effect the people around them.
“Go now, you are forgiven.”
Life Path 7: The Faith Seeker
(not yet written)
1. Into the Mystic by Van Morrison
The 7 embodies the nonmaterial world, spiritual awakening, and intellect. A 7 Life Path dedicated this song to me once. Throughout my journey studying the psychology of these numbers and the people around them, I’ve noticed an interesting link between the 2 and the 7. They are like two sides of the same coin of love, one being heart centered and the other being of wisdom. This is why I made the first chapter of Metanoia the 2 Life Path, and the last the 7 Life Path.
“Hark now, hear the sailors cry. Smell the sea and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic.”
2. Truth by Alex Ebert
“Your darkness is shining, my darkness is shining. Have faith in myself. Truth.”
The 7 is also about wisdom, and I think that the lesson this song portrays is something that may not become clear until this life path has reached the maturity of age. This person, whether they like it or not, has to have faith in something in order to find themselves on a path that works. Faith comes in many packages, as I always say, and there is so much to be said about that, some of which perhaps can only be expressed in music.
Life Path 8: The Executive
1. Elastic Heart by Sia
”I wont give up. I won’t give up. I won’t give up.”
The 8 is about power, karma, and taking authority over one’s life. There’s a pattern of 8 Life Path’s doing a complete 180°. They can go from rags to riches, or riches to rags so to speak. It’s the 8’s ability to overcome anything that reminds me of an elastic heart.
2. Money on Straight by The Killers
The 8 is also associated with matters of our physical world, whether that be money, health, time, etc.
This often means a lesson navigating their finances.
As I’ve already hinted at here, they must be wary of “Sailin' too close, sailin' too close to the wind”.
The 8 Life Path has infinite potential after all the hard lessons are learned.
Life Path 9: The Humanitarian
(not yet written)
Finally, we arrive at the last number in the sequence. The 9 is about evolution, completion, and philanthropy.
1. To Be Human by Marina
A healthy 9 Life Path wants to leave the world better than they found it. They care, a lot. They are the ones rescuing animals, fostering children, and working towards all means of bettering life on Earth. Their worldly perspective makes them great teachers, and great leaders, and it’s this same perspective that can sometimes make them aware of how hard it is to be human.
“I like to think about how we all look from afar, people driving fancy cars look like beetles to the stars. The missiles and the bombs sound like symphonies gone wrong, and if there is a God, they'll know why it's so hard to be human.”
2. Across The Universe by The Beatles (Fiona Apple version)
The number 9 is said to be the most evolved state of all the life paths. It is why it’s associated with graduations and endings. I like this stream of consciousness, where one returns to the eternal flow of life. This song hints at finding the beauty and the peace in a horrifically problematic world. This is the state I hope the 9 ultimately reaches.
“Nothing’s gonna change my world.”
…
By the time you reach the end of this, you might have preferred songs that are not associated with your number. There are a lot of things I could say about that, but I’ll leave you with this:
I am a humble 5 Life Path, and yet each one of these resonated with me. We all have something to teach one another, and most of all, we all have something specific to overcome. This is why I always frame these paths as lessons. Yes, there will be personality traits and fun observations for each, but most of all they show us our focus- what we came to teach others, or to master.
That’s the root of my numerology practice, what I hope my followers take home. If any of this resonated with you, consider signing up for my monthly readings here, or a chart reading here.
I love this!
Hello, my life path number has made absolutely no sense to me. I am the furthest thing from Executive path there ever has been. Unless I'm misunderstanding Executive, even when I've created things that could be monetized or elevate me to positions of mastery or authority, I want nothing to do with that. I avoid it at all costs. Because I want to stir people's souls and light a lamp in their hearts, not dig into their pocketbooks or lord over their lives.
I was a breech birth though, born at 2:55 a.m. I have long wondered if I would have been born on the 16th rather than 17th if there hadn't been birth complications, because Faith Seeker fits me perfectly. Does that ever happen? I would imagine being a Faith Seeker soul made to wear the skins of, or exist within the trappings of, the Executive would result in one having a rather awkward, fragmented, unhappy life.
