Writing is hard, and maybe that’s why we should do it.
For the past couple of years, Metanoia has been my platform on consciousness. Its origin is the story that you have been reading here on Substack, which is my newest venture and where I hope to develop my next community as I have on YouTube. Because social media platforms vary in the nature of their content and ultimately their audience, Metanoia is slightly different on each platform. I use Youtube to share my numerology practice, which is what helped me develop the character states for Metanoia. On Instagram I share a glimpse into my personal life, and perhaps a combination of all these things.
Here, I will be publishing the underlying current of it all, an idea that came to me in the middle of the night so forcibly that I had to get up and start outlining it in a journal. This was 10 years ago and there have been have many obstacles keeping me from completing the task of finishing Metanoia, but sometimes I feel that it was meant to be written this way. A journey within a journey, perhaps it is enhanced by the author also undergoing their own life synthesis as it comes out. This is an overwhelming task that I have allowed myself to be imperfect with, seeing that I have bitten off more than I can chew and have had to do it completely alone.
Maybe I don’t have to do it completely alone anymore, and that is why I’m here. So thank you for being here with me as I share a piece of my life’s work with you. I hope it gives you something you don’t feel you are getting in today’s world.
Hi Kerry. Loved hearing your prologue spoken. This rounds it out, gives it flesh. I have been enjoying Metanoia for some time now, looking forward to each new installment. I am the author of the Scary House, a chapter book for kids, the first in a series of middle school fantasy books. Im trying to learn about the publishing process which seems way more daunting than the writing process at this point! I am also a visual artist and speech pathologist. I love everything Kerry and follow you on all your platforms as you know. Looking forward to more!
Writing is definitely 'hard'. We do so little of it unless it is part of our profession. Hated it in college, but was forced into it in business - report, propose, plan, or die. post-graduate academics often face the same fate. Practice doesn't make perfect unless you have a good editor, but it always helps. :-)
I'm only sure of one thing - we are better for thinking about our world, the one we inhabit in our imaginations and the real one. It anchors us as individuals and keeps us from becoming sheep at the mercy of the wolves that lie in wait.
Enjoyed your explanatory note to the world. I recognized a little of myself in it. It confirms what I've heard said, 'We need a witness to our lives.' For some of us, that is an audience. We only hope it is worthy of the larger consideration. g
