Forgot to say - I know what you mean about getting to the stage where you can guess people's numbers - I was like that with astrology for a while. Likewise with the tarot, where I would just ask people for three numbers between 1 and 78 and do a past-present-future reading.

I think what happens is that the brain gets so used to it, by constantly reinforcing all those neural connections, and builds up the database of examples (memory), so to speak, such that your mind instantly absorbs a whole load of non-verbal data from a person (microexpressions etc.), then checks the database for matches. Then again, there is something magical about it too, because the more we do these sorts of activities the more in harmony with reality we become.

Anyway - a few more thoughts there that just popped into my head and wouldn't go away. I really must get myself back into the habit of divination.

There's a lot of pattern recognition that is completely subconscious in this. For example, 2 years ago I met a young woman at the pool I go to. After spending some time with her, I couldn't shake the feeling of how it felt very similar to being with a friend I had in elementary school, who was a 1 Life Path. Turns out, she has the same Life Path number. So I think it's not just noticing behaviors, but the relationship has a similar resonance. She very much feels like a childhood friend to me, and the 5 (me) and 1 are natural matches.

I recently purchased a few new decks after a very long time of not having much interest in them. Partly this is because I'm going to be introducing bonus card readings to my monthlies here, but recently I'm also drawn to getting back to the practice and how therapeutic it feels. I spoke about this in a note recently.

I've encountered a fair amount of numerology in my time, partly because I used it a fair amount when I've done tarot. There are 78 cards in the tarot and each one can be related to a specific number (between 1 and 78 - obviously each one can also be reduced to single digit). Likewise there is a clear numerical/meaning sequence (or progression/development) in each suit from 1 to 10, with, naturally, the 10 (1+0) also being the first step in the next cycle (so it's 9, as you say). I have a book somewhere specifically relating numbers to cards, and astrology for that matter - they're all related somehow. To relate name and birthdate numbers to the tarot simply means not reducing them to a single digit (unless greater than 78 of course).

So I'm right with you on this one. Likewise with the Pythagorean aspect. When I was studying philosophy I wrote my dissertation on Pythagoreanism, as I loved all that mysticism. The Tetractys obviously springs to mind here, although it was also the reincarnation that I had an affinity with. I think there's a fair amount of that with the Egyptians too.

One thing I had not heard of was having six numbers - what I learned was three from the name (vowels (=soul)-consonants (=outer personality/how you manifest in life) and then add the two (=path of destiny)), with just one from the birthday (life lesson number). So with three numbers from the birthday that's day-month-year? Well, that makes things even more interesting and I'm going to have to go away and think about that...

Yes, absolutely. I'd love to spend some time on the numerology of astrology, going over the 12 houses or zodiac signs and their congruencies. I have a book on tarot and numerology in storage that is quite involved, and haven't had the time to give it my full attention. This entire subject is very interesting and the more you uncover, the more questions you have, and the more things seem to intersect. The 3 numbers that I use from the birthday come from the day, the addition of the day and the month, and then the addition of all the digits in the birthday (which is the life path number).

I had the video on as a podcast as I finished up household tasks and felt both productive and enlightened :) Thank you so much for this introduction, your explanation was both thorough and entertaining.

So glad this was well received! That's exactly what I like to do for the channels that I follow. I'll put it on in the background to anything like driving home, showering or cleaning. I thought that many people wouldn't bother to even look at this post due to the subject matter, so seeing this feedback makes me feel better about it. Also, I've never seen myself, nor been regarded as entertaining, so that's a highlight for me today haha. Thank you kindly ❤️

No I’ve never seen negative numbers in numerology before, and I don’t know what it means by “to base”.

The to base is a mathematics term.

We count in common parlance to base ten so we use the digits 0 to 9.

Then if the number is greater than 9 by 1 then the one is put Infront of zero to give us ten.

In the digital world where signals that are used in computers are either on or off numbers are represented by zeros and ones. This system is to base two using only the digits 0 to 1 if a number is greater than 1 by 1 then the one is put infront of the zero to give 10 in binary which has a value of 2 in decimal.

In the case of a system that is to the base of -3 then the value 19 in decimal is represented by 201 in that system.

I never came across the system that is to the base of -3 when I took mathematics back in the seventies.

Just came across it today hence my new found interest! 😁
