I’m sorry for your loss. This dream is powerful and surely stirred emotions in you and us readers. There’s so much symbolism in it too. You carry her now, you pay tribute and remember her for being your champion. The connection is there between the two of you. Thank you for sharing.
The whole thing got to me very deeply, but this last bit in particular: "The harsh truth is that this place is a soul killer. I’ve seen it time and time again, and on so many different levels. The marketplace planet has a knack for taking the people who are most aligned with what we claim is important, and chipping away at them until there’s nothing left. Only the asleep, the morally crooked, and the blissfully ignorant thrive here, those who adapt well to the sickness.
This place runs on fumes from heaven."
I just couldn't agree more - that old adage about 'it's not healthy to be well-adjusted to a sick society'
[p.s. The Killers also happen to be one of own favourite bands; try Interpol as well, you might like them, especially their first LP Turn on the Bright Lights, which IMO has the best opening and closing tracks of any LP in history; arguably...]
Wow, I'm not sure how to respond to this, whether it's part of a fictional story, or an expression of a real loss of your sister, and if so, I'm deeply sorry for your enormous loss! Or is it maybe a metaphorical expression of grief & loss for a part of you, yourself, a part of yourself that you feel has withered away & died? Either way, the way you've described this loss seems very real, very powerful, and moving and sad.
The fact that it's expressed as a dream is very interesting to me, because dreams, I believe, if they're troubling enough for us to remember them, have a way of bringing into our consciousness things (issues, tensions, difficult struggles we're wrestling with in our our waking lives), and also, to the degree that we can think deeply on them and confront them, they offer opportunities for our transformation.
Having just lost my baby brother, I agree with all of this. This isn't what my soul signed up for.
I’m so sorry 😞. Agreed.
