We call autumn fall. The fall of the leaves, the fall of a productive growing season, the fall into darkness.
Dappled light matures into an orange hue as Earth withdraws its northern face from the sun.
The air shifts, heralding new smells, flavors, textures, sounds.
These are the things the 9 asks us to take notice of again. These are the things that the 9 wants us to fully embody again. It takes us out of our holding patterns and forces us to exist in the space between. It’s about simplicity.
There are times we are called to live in the eternity of the present moment. I call this Elysian vision the “Forever Now” in Metanoia, which takes place in the lifetime of the 9 Life Path.
This September, the collective would do well to suspend disbelief, surrender to the mystery, and welcome the fall.
There will be time for effort, control, force. For now, let us be the archer, steadily drawing the bow back before the release.

Instagram witches like to celebrate the Lion’s Gate portal every year, which takes place on 8/8. This is because the number 8 is associated with material wealth, abundance, and power. It’s great content for the algorithm, but there is only one true Lion’s Gate every 9 years, when we enter an 8 year and the date reduces to 8/8/8.
This year, we have what I’m calling the Hermit Gate on September 9th, 2025 (as well as the 18th, 27th). The hermit goes inward to reflect and embody the space between the beginning and the end of something. These kinds of transitions can be euphoric or destabilizing. So few want to go through the pain of removing themselves from their holding pattern. The complete wisdom, truth, or reality of where we are acts as both an inflammatory agent to pathology and neurosis, and a salve to those truly willing, and eager to let go. What haunts us will force us to change fundamentally, or lead us to repeat the same story for eternity. Some of you reading this will repeat the same pattern over and over again indefinitely. Some of you will break free.
Themes of the 9 include death, reflection, the past, and graduation. You may have noticed that my recent posts have been relevant to these numerological insights. Last month’s cycle was that of the 8, so I shared a book review examining the concept of money and wrote an ode to Pluto in Scorpio, the zodiac sign associated with power. I also thanked you all for 1k subscribers and raised a toast to the milestone. For September, I hope to achieve the same, exploring death, ephemerality, and the past.
Many of us know that our old systems are working against us, but sometimes I look at some of the symbols and practices that pass off as tradition that no one questions and everyone accepts and wonder if we’re fully aware of how deep the rot goes. In order for civilizations to enact real change, they must first pull out the defective stitches of the collective social fabric, unraveling the corrupt tapestry piece by piece. I sometimes wonder if things never appear to be getting better because of how painful this process is, and because of our lack of awareness of the depth of the decay. Each time we sew a better pattern on top of the infection, we say, ‘Look! We’ve fixed it now!’, ignoring the disease underneath that inevitably spreads to what little good was done.
We are falling into the next 9-year cycle. In this suspended animation, you need only be in the present moment. Nothing else is needed from us right now, and the deeper we fall into ourselves, the higher our capacity for change and overall growth will be in the upcoming years.
