Symmetrical Entropy: Order Within the Chaos
The Universe is ironic - some food for thought going into 2024
Some tunes while you read.
Look upon a photo zoomed in way too far, and all you see is an incomprehensible pixelated blur that has no meaning.
We rarely consider that we might have to take several steps back to see something for what it is.
Something to come to terms with:
Nothing makes sense. It’s foolish to think that one day it will for you, or anyone.
Life doesn’t have to make sense, that is nature. It’s a hard pill to swallow. Life doesn’t make sense, nor can it make sense to the monkey mind, with all its prejudices and all its limitations. What often anchors me is knowing that my perspective is limited, and it’s most likely that of a photo zoomed in 500%.
Something strange happens when you adopt the maxim “I know that I don’t know”. Your willingness to expand takes you farther than you could have imagined. That is the paradoxical nature of this existence, which is in infinite in experience, boundless in challenge and fractal in perception.
What is this idea of symmetrical entropy I’ve come up with? It is disorder occurring in such a way that when given enough time and space, it begins to take shape. A slew of seemingly random acts happen collectively, forming something that has symmetry. Simply put, symmetrical entropy is a paradox. It is order birthed from disorder.
I can’t be certain, but often I suspect that symmetrical entropy is a real thing. Scientists talk about how all matter leans towards a state of entropy, of randomness. Yet, look at all the order, look at all that condensed, all that organized, and all that lead to this life we’re living. It is akin to masculine versus feminine, light versus dark. Push and pull is the rudimentary natural law at work here.
I’m not saying there is a reason for everything. I’m not saying everything is predetermined. I’m not an advocate of intelligent design. All I am asking is for us to question how we can have completely accurate notions, ideas, and measurements when we are merely on the inside, looking out of something unfathomably larger than ourselves.
The only certainty is uncertainty, but perhaps the disorder has uniformity as well.
Let us be honest with ourselves now to spare us later. Most of life will never make sense. From womb to tomb, it remains a mystery. It’s not meant to. Submit to the absurdity, relinquish your illusory control, and be still. Within the tangled nature of this paradox is where it all begins to take shape.
If you enjoy the realm of philosophy and imagination, then my work in progress is for you. Start here.
Feels like the 2nd law of thermodynamics 🫡
God praise the symmetrical absurdity of the universe! Taoism has a lot of good things to say about stuff like this. You seem like a kindred spirit.
